Open immediately, we are hiring an experienced cook to produce retail ready sandwiches, salads, soups and other prepared foods in our Waterbury Farm Market. This is an exciting opportunity to execute and build upon a foundation of established core recipes utilizing our organic produce and an array of other local foodstuffs. 

The successful applicant will possess:

  • experience in a commercial kitchen
  • a developed palette
  • multi-tasking kitchen efficiencies necessary to produce a large volume of food with multiple overlapping projects happening through each day 
  • ability to be precise in order to produce items that are consistent according to established recipes. 
  • math and spreadsheet or other skills/methods adequate for managing the costing of all items
  • instincts and improvisational skills to react to seasonal abundance when required. 
  • well-rounded cooking & baking skills

Farm Stand Team Member (Posted Mar 22)

In the village of Craftsbury the Pete’s Greens farm stand serves its community by providing the widest variety of fresh seasonal organic produce possible along with local cheeses and dairy products, pastured meats, fresh breads and eggs, and a wide variety of local staples and goodies.  The farm stand is open daily from May to October.  

We are are seeking an individual with merchandising savvy, an eye and mind for details and some solid math skills to join our team.  This is a part time time job, approximately 25 hours a week, Fri, Sat, Sun.  FT hours are possible.  Primary Duties include:

  • Keep farm stand looking full and abundant, fresh and vibrant
  • Stock, rotate, price, and label all inventory
  • Ensure correct pricing for all items in stand
  • Place weekly orders for all inventory from a variety of vendors
  • Keep coolers, dsiplay shelving and farm stand clean, dust free and tidy
  • Maintain the farm stand flower beds
  • Work with farm crew washing and packign veggies in between stocking the self serve farmstand

Harvest Leader (Updated Mar 22
)

Looking for an energetic, knowledgeable individual to lead our multilingual harvest team.  We fully expect that this position will take a full year to learn.  We are looking for someone for whom this job is the dream job, someone prepared to grow into it.

Our harvest leader plays an important role on our farm, keeping tabs on how each planting is coming along and communicating to sales and CSA team what can be sold, harvested and delivered each week.  It also a very physical job, the Harvest Leader works directly with the harvest crew, ensuring that crops will be harvested correctly, to right size and quantity to fulfill sales needs.  Our harvest crew is a mix of English and Spanish speakers, most of whom have been harvesting on our farm for 4 years or more.  Though the core job relates to crop information and harvest tasks, this position offers much opportunity for growth for someone keen to learn more about organic agriculture and who is a real team player.  This is a year round position.

Delivery Driver (Updated Mar 22)

Our delivery driver is responsible for delivering products to both wholesale customers and to our CSA member pick-up sites in Northern VT. Reliability and safe driving record are paramount. The ideal candidate will represent the farm well, communicating with our customers in a friendly and professional manner, while adhering to our published delivery schedule. Must have experience driving a 26 ft straight truck, a clean driving record and possess adequate knowledge of equipment maintenance.  Wednesday and Saturday delivery days w/ some Tuesday afternoon warehouse hours. Approximately 25-30 hours weekly.  Additional warehouse hours are available.

Candidate must be able to comfortably and repeatedly lift 50 lbs crates and boxes of food. Candidate must enjoy working as part of a team.  Our work involves lots of details, driver should be capable of counting/doing basic math on the fly and being aware of and keeping track of details.  Must be capable of communicating clearly both verbally and via email to others on the Pete's Greens team.

Looking for a full time position here in the Northeast Kingdom?  We are looking for one or two dependable, detail oriented people with a good eye for quality control to join our team.  Our washouse is in operation Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (off Wednesdays and weekends) washing and packing our organic vegetables to prepare them for distribution to our wholesale and CSA customers.  This is a year round, full time position with room for growth and leadership for the right individual.  The perfect candidate is dependable, hard-working, detail oriented, good humored, appreciates high quality vegetables, is a good communicator, has good basic math skills and is fit and capable of frequently lifting crates of vegetables weighing up to 50 lbs.

Greenhouse Grower (Updated Mar 15)

We're seeking a motivated, talented individual to manage our 50,000 square ft of heated and 2.5 acres of unheated greenhouses and tunnels. We grow a huge array of crops indoors from arugula to zucchini. We're currently upgrading our greenhouse facilities by installing soil heat and automated venting and we need a grower who can make the place hum!  Primary tasks include co-creating and executing a greenhouse management plan and directing a team to optimize planting, transplanting, harvesting, packing, system monitoring, pest management, and general maintenance.  Secondary tasks may include experimental research.  This is a full time, year round salaried position.
