At Pete's Greens, our chickens have a great life. Even as chicks housed in the barns,
these lucky birds are brought an abundance of greens daily that they eagerly consume. At 3-4
weeks of age, the chicks are ready to go outside and they move out onto our organic greens
fields or pasture, sheltered by moveable chicken huts and protected from predators by electric
fencing. They spend their days doing exactly what chickens like best - foraging for bugs
and seeds with lots of room to roam, feasting on greens and chicken feed, and
lounging around under their shelter. Our chickens spend all their days relaxed and
happy. The organic greens & forage these chickens take in throughout their lives is transferred
to the meat of the birds, making their meat especially tasty and packed with nutrition. The meat
from pastured poultry is significantly higher in Omega 3 fatty acids and Vitamin A. It is
also lower in fat. This is very, very healthy meat.

The chickens provide a vital fertility link. The vegetables grown on the farm pull lots of
nutrients from the soil. That fertility must be replaced. In the past that has meant bringing in soil
additions from off the farm, like manure and spoiled silage which get composted and then
applied. This is an energy intensive system requiring man hours and fuel for trucks and tractors.
Now the chickens play a role. When a greenhouse is moved off a plot of aging greens, the
chickens get to work. They feast on the greens and they leave behind a nutrient filled layer of
manure that gets tilled back into the soil. This makes for happy soil and ecstatic chickens.

Chickens are delivered to CSA Sites or available at Pete's Greens in Craftsbury
on the following Wednesday dates:

May 26 Jun 9 Jun 23 Jun 30 Jul 14 Jul 21 Jul 28

1. All order forms must be e mailed to Amy or mailed to the farm by WEDNESDAY before
the above dates.
2. We will pack and weigh your chickens and email you an invoice total.
3. Then you can mail a check.

Good Eats members may pick up frozen chickens at their usual pick up sites. Chickens will
be frozen in a Pete's Greens cooler.
Bring a box to carry your chickens.

Other customers must pick up their frozen chickens at the farm in Craftsbury on the
Wednesday dates above.

Checks must be written out to Pete's Greens.
