Good Eats CSA - FAQ & Sign-up Form
What is Good Eats?
Good Eats is a program in which you buy a "share" of Pete's Greens produce for a 17 or 18 week period. For the Vegetable/Localvore Share, we deliver your food once a week to one of several sites throughout Central Vermont or you pickup at our farm.
Good Eats is a year round CSA, divided into three share periods throughout the year.
How do I join?
We are now accepting sign-ups for the Summer Share. The share runs from June 18th through October 15th.
Our Spring Share is now full.
You can sign-up for Summer Share using the form at the bottom of this page.
Sending in your sign-up does not guarantee your participation. This is a popular share and we do it on a first come, first serve basis.
Fill out the contact form on our homepage to be put on our contact list for upcoming share periods.
What's in the shares?
We specialize in diverse and unusual varieties of vegetables and greens. Your bag will contain the same speciality produce that we sell to the top chefs of New England. Our hope is to both challenge and delight you with the selections. We also raise free range chicken and lamb and have laying hens for eggs.
The Vegetable/Localvore Share combines a weekly delivery of our fresh organic vegetables with specialties from Pete's Greens Kitchen and other Localvore items grown and produced close to home. See Spring Share and Summer Share descriptions for more details.
The Vegetable Only Share (available summer only) offers the same weekly vegetable selection found in the Vegetable/Localvore share, but without Pete's Greens Kitchen items and localvore goodies.
A possible weekly Share in mid-June: 3 lb. German Butterball potatoes, 1 bu. scallion, 1 head lettuce, 1/2 lb. mesclun, 1 pint sungold cherry tomatoes, 1 european greenhouse cucumber, 1 bu. parsley, 1 bu. beets, 1 dozen Pete's eggs*, 1 loaf localvore blue cheese bread*, 1 quart sunflower oil*, 1/3 lb. shiitake mushrooms*.
A possible weekly Share in mid-August: 2 lbs. heirloom tomato mix, 1/2 lb baby spinach, 1 lb. baby zukes, 1 bu. gold beets, 1 bu. walla walla sweet onions, 1 charentais cantalope, 1 bu. sugarsnax carrots, 1 lb. cukes, 1 head radiccio, 1 gallon apple cider*, 1/2# artisan blue cheese*, 1/2 pint Pete's pesto*, 1 pint Pete's salsa*.
* Not included in Summer Vegetable Only Share.
Can I split a share?
Yes. Please fill out the sign-up form indicating that it will be shared. Co-members are responsible for splitting up the share themselves at pick-up.
If you are looking for someone to split a share with, please check out the blog post on splitting a share, or email Nancy@PetesGreens.com.
How much does a share cost?
The price for our June-October Vegetable Localvore share is $790 for 18 weeks, or just under $44 per week. The retail price for this amount of food is roughly $54 a week, or $972 for 18 weeks.
The Summer Vegetable Only Share is $495 for 18 weeks, or $27.50 per week.
Do you offer payment plans?
Although we prefer that you pay for your entire share at the time that you sign up, we do offer a payment option for full period shares. See the Summer sign-up sheet (pdf), Summer sign-up sheet(html) for details.
Can I join after the season has started?
Maybe. You can join Good Eats anytime assuming we have shares available. Fill out the contact form on our homepage to be put on our contact list.
Don’t forget that we are a year-round CSA, so if the current share period fills up you may be able to sign up for the next, especially if we have your current email address on our contact list.
What if I can’t pick up my share?
If you know that you will be out of town, we suggest you arrange to have a family member or friend pick your box up and enjoy the week's bounty.
Do you give refunds or credits?
We do not refund the price of the share.
If you are disappointed in the quality of our produce, or we are at fault for a missed delivery, we want you to be compensated. Our goal is complete satisfaction.
